sad news

i'm currently reading "mere christianity", and will be blogging about it and several other books next week once everything settles down, but i have just realized a very very sad thing.

catholicism produced: j.r.r. tolkien

anglicanism produced: c.s. lewis

mormonism produced: stephanie meyer

if that doesn't make anyone want to cry i don't know what will. my testimony just had a little shaking.

Kenny,

I can't believe you would even place Stephanie Meyer in the same category as the other two!

Lets think about what else mormonism produced. hmmm...

The Restored Gospel of Jesus Christ.
The Book of Mormon
James E. Talmage

Not to mention Me.

Do I need to continue?

This is the most horrible post ever! After the vomiting stopped I had to have my rommies tie my hands to prevent me from cutting myself in agony. I typed this post with my tongue. So no spelling/grammar jokes please. My tongue is now too raw to retort. I just hope I don't try to bite my tongue of to silence the sorrow forever.

Mormonism also produced: Orson Scott Card, Aaron Eckhart and two of the eight Aquabats.

Catholicism also produced: Nicholas Cage (let's not pretend like he's made a movie resembling good in the past fifteen years).

Anglicanism also produced: Spiro Agnew and Theodore Roosevelt (who I likeish but Ken claims he was a lunatic, so there you go).

So let's not be hasty. Also, I wouldn't say that Mormonism PRODUCED Stephanie Meyer so much as someone let some bean dip grow rancid in their fridge and she grew from it.

(I'm cleaning out my fridge right now, hence the metaphor).

(Also, I was very very tempted to correct all the spelling errors of AJ's tongue, but I refrained with my iron will of self control. YOU'RE WELCOME.)

kelsha, in response: out of the Book of Mormon, Jesus the Christ, etc. and the forsaken testaments of human idolatry and idiocy known as the whatever series, which was the new york bestseller?????.....hmmm....???? point proven. let's go shoot ourselves.

aj, in response: take medicine and recognize the depravity of culture that exist in our nation.

kelsi, in response: good point on the bean dip, but iron will of self control is repetitive, so back off the grammar.

kelsha, in addition: the fact that mormonism produced us collectively does give me some hope despite everything i've said, so you're point has some merit.

kelsi, in addition: aaron eckhart doesn't consider himself a liver of the "mormon lifestyle", therefore he doesn't count for your cultural achievement argument.

I'm going to go ahead and support Kelsen's Nic Cage reference.

Have you seen Wickerman?! The man punches at least 3 old ladies in the face, the scariest part of the movie is the ugly women in the crowd at the end scene, and the best part of the movie is when Nic suffers a horrendous death by fire.

Also, I would like to point out that you glazed over Kelsen's apt attention to Orson Scott Card who, though he is a bit..eccentric...is quite popular among most people.

I would like to end by reenforcing my skill at backing people up and lack of original argument by stating, "Yeah!" to everything Kelsen said.

'nuff said.

Gosh I love you, Kelsha.

Orson Scott Card is a douche, and there'll be no debate on the matter.

Kelsha, did you even see Wicker Man? Cage isn't burned to death, that's in the original! In the recent, far superior version he is stung to death by the bees that produce the villagers precious honey. C'mon girl, get with it!

And Ken, the fact that the Mormon faith hasn't had a significant cultural icon is just a chance for you to step in and fill that void, so get to it! Write a crazy fantasy series that is cherished for generations or somesing.

I'm not say Orson Scott Card isn't a douche, but "Ender's Game" and "Ender's Shadow" were both great books. "Speaker for the Dead" and "Xenocide" were meh.

Also, when I watched Wicker Man I wanted to kill myself. Nicholas Cage is an awful awful man.

"I'm not say" huh Kelsen... This is why I try not to criticize people, because mistakes are so abundant it's just a lazy use of creativity, or worse, compensation for the lack of.
In defense of the Mormon lack of notable people I say well-done Mormon faith. Doctrinally all Mormons should seek the praise of God not man. So if few Mormons are receiving the praise of man then mission accomplished. Only those, “not currently living the ‘Mormon lifestyle’ “ seem able to get the praises of men. Connection. . . ?

I apologize for the typo in my last comment.

Do you really want to start up another round of grammar wars, AJ? Because if your constant run-on sentences are any indication, you are ill-equipped to meet my semantic nitpicking.

whoa, everybody calm down.

I have something far more important for you all to consider.

Would you like to hear about Moby Dick or Oliver Twist.

Admittedly I have read Oliver Twist in the past, but it was too long ago I can't remember.

So quit bickering and let me know which you would prefer to hear about.

Moby Dick! I am considering re-reading that this summer.
